Kampyongo to consult lawyers over UPND MP Twaambo attacks

By BARNABAS ZULU

STEPHEN Kampyongo has said he will be seeking legal advice from his lawyers following attacks by Twaambo Mutinta, the UPND law maker that President Hakainde Hichilema should have moved fast to arrest and prosecute the Shiwang’andy Legislator and his counterpart, Ronald Chitotela, the Pambashe Parliamentarian.

Mr Kampyongo, the opposition Chief Whip in Parliament has tols Mr Mutinta to desist from using his name to seek attention from President Hakainde Hichilema.

On Sunday, Mr. Mutinta claimed President Hichilema was becoming unpopular within the UPND circles because of his failure to have people like Mr. Kampyongo and Mr. Ronald Chitotela arrested and prosecuted in the shortest possible time.

But Mr Kampyongo yesterday said Mr Mutinta was making allegations against him on matters that were still in could and that his comments on the matters could be contemptuous.

“In as much as I do not have so much energy to respond to a nonentity, a fellow like that one, who is trying to seek from attention from the president, hoping that probably that is the only way he can see himself appointed as anything in the New Dawn Government, I want to just lecture to him, he should not just use his petty hatred for someone of us with Mr Chitotela to draw the attention of the President,” Mr Kampyongo said.

He said if Mr. Mutinta wanted to be known, he should begin to do the right things instead of attempting to propagate hate speech against him and other law makers.

“If he wants to be known, let him do the right thing, let him be an effective lawmaker, then he will be identified. But it is pettiness of the highest order and ignorance for a person who is a new Member of Parliament to try and express his ignorance on how the institution of governance function to suggest that the President should be issuing instructions to other independent arms of government such as the Judiciary to prosecute people,” he said.

“He should know that UPND is in government today, it may not be in government forever, so let him not stoop so low. He has got a lot to learn on how State institutions functions as a lawmaker himself. He hasn’t even gotten to a quarter of a service that we have rendered to this nation to start using our names. He hasn’t even gotten to a quarter, he may just be a one term MP because there have been two people that have served that constituency when I have been serving in that constituency,” he said.

“So, let him watch his space, and avoid being petty and using people that have served the nation at the highest level which he cannot even achieve to gain political mileage,” the Shiwang’andu strongman said.
