State of feeder roads in Chongwe deplorable

Dear Editor,

I LIVE east of KKIA which is in Chongwe where I have noticed with regret the gross neglect of feeder roads.

In particular are those in communities like Mwalubemba, Kabulongo, Muyanga, Powanga and Mtamina to mention but a few where these roads appear to have survived World War II bombing.

Our hearts were once elated when our Member of Parliament Sylvia Masebo, now Lands Minister displayed a road grading equipment at Chongwe Municipal Council offices.

But strangely, it all ended there in show and the whereabouts of that equipment, nobody clearly knows. Meanwhile, our feeder roads remain in their poor state without an iota of shame.

Maybe, only maybe our UPND government cannot be bothered yet these roads play a crucial role in our economic development efforts.

These roads always become extremely handy in the delivery of farming inputs as well as movement of people, including farmers.

One would have thought the government would have taken advantage of El Nino effects in Zambia this year to grade all feeder roads throughout the country.

Now with the good climatic news that Zambia will receive good rains this coming 2024/2025 farming season, Government should go flat out to work on all feeder roads nationwide.

Passable feeder roads will certainly be a big game changer to our now anticipated maize bumper harvest to the huge benefit of the citizens.
