Economic growth a hoax – Muhabi

THE assertion by President Hakainde Hichilema of an average economic growth of 5.3 percent in the last three years was more of a propaganda statement than reality as figures from the Bank of Zambia indicate otherwise, Muhabi Lungu has said.
Mr Lungu, the interim spokesperson of the Zambia We Want said President Hichilema could have told Parliament during his recent address to the House as a deliberately calculated populist pronouncement, rather than a serious indication of real economic data.
He said the state of the economy, as it currently stood, did not support the claim of a real GDP average growth rate of 5.3 percent even with the ridiculous claiming of a year outside the ambit of the current administration.
