The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has warned of a possibility of a general election being delayed unless constitutional amendments are undertaken that could resolve the lacunae President Hakainde Hichilema fears could lead the country not have elections for up to nine years.

Speaking during the orientation of the Electoral Reform Technical Committee (ERTC) on the provincial stakeholder engagement meetings scheduled for 30 September in Lusaka, ECZ Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis said that the Constitution in its current status was prone to misuse by electoral participants.
