HH Parley speech another promissory note – NGOCC

THE Non-Governmental Gender Organisations Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has branded the presidential speech as more of a promissory note and rhetoric, with a lot of processes and plans.

In a statement issued yesterday, NGOCC said the organisation was concerned that the speech that was delivered by President Hakainde Hichilema in parliament, last week, did not live up to its expectations.

The organisation noted that the economic handouts under the social cash transfer was not different from the “tantameni” which President Hichilema had been preaching against and discouraging.

“The President’s speech was more of a promissory note, with a lot of processes and plans while mentioning a few achievements. What is more worrying is that while the President keeps referring to the ‘tantameni’ syndrome, to imply at one point, citizens queued up for handouts mostly based on political patronage, but the current interventions will be no different from the ‘tantameni’ if the beneficiaries are not empowered with skills and CLICK HERE TO READ MORE
