Judiciary lacks autonomy – Sangwa

THE independence of the Judiciary is being undermined by its lack of financial autonomy as it has been reduced to beggers from the executive and is unable to challenge presidential constitutional breaches, State Counsel John Sangwa has said.
And Mr Sangwa has charged that there is no single Judge in Zambia who could ever claim to have been appointed on merit, a situation he says has undermined the independence of the Judiciary as well as individual judges.
