STREET vending in Zambia is illegal and those trading in undesignated places should know that they are breaking the law and can be arrested, prosecuted and jailed upon conviction, Maambo Hamaundu, the Local Government Permanent Secretary has warned.
Mr Hamaundu says Government is aware that citizens need to earn a livelihood hence most of them are trading as hawkers but such trade should be done in designated markets to avoid outbreaks of diseases.
