The Muvombe Development Initiative (MDI) has commended the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for its unwavering commitment to upholding democratic standards, by promoting ECZ’s transparency, integrity, and efficiency as it celebrates the rolling UPNDs victory in the Kawambwa council chairperson Election in Kawambwa District of Luapula Province.
In a press release MDI states that this win is a testament to a transformative shift in Zambian democracy towards unity, peace, and the undeniable power of the people’s voice, as it marks a defining moment that reflects the ideals and aspirations that the New Dawn Government, under the leadership of His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema, has passionately pursued.
MDI states that the past three years, Luapula Province has witnessed a remarkable transformation which Not so long ago, the region was seen as a “no-go zone” for the United Party For National Development were Elections where synonymous with fear, caderism, and violence, a political environment that did not permit the freedom of choice making the people of Kawambwa and other areas in Luapula live under a shadow of intimidation for expressing different political opinions as this came with severe consequences further expressing that the peaceful, transparent election it has witnessed in Kawambwa District is a true testament to the progress Zambia is making under President Hichilema’s leadership, through unwavering commitment to dismantling the machinery of violence and caderism, hence this has inspired a movement grounded in transparency, peace, and inclusivity, signalling a Zambia where citizens no longer vote in fear but in freedom.
MDI says The 8,589 votes cast for our UPND candidate an electoral win; which symbolise the people’s faith in a vision centered on development, justice, and prosperity while SP got 6,054 . Since taking office, the New Dawn Government has consistently worked toward creating a Zambia that serves every citizen equally, focusing on real, sustainable progress. Today’s result in Kawambwa sends a clear message that our communities recognise the dedication of this government and are rallying behind the vision of President Hichilema.
