LAZ demands autonomy of judiciary

THE Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) has instructed its lawyers, Messrs Chamwana and Company to immediately verify if government had complied with the Constitutional Court orders for the Judiciary to be financially independent from the executive.

In a letter dated September 30, 2024, LAZ president Lungisani Zulu said in the matter of John Sangwa and the Law Association of Zambia versus the Attorney General case of 2021, the ConCourt had directed government to fully implement financial autonomy of the judiciary as contained in Articles 122 (3) and 123 of the Constitution of Zambia.
