UPND not on the ground with reality

Dear Editor,

SO far so bad for the hurting economy which our UPND can only but watch helplessly.

I say this because life on the ground is hell as prices of nearly all commodities continue to rise everyday putting the lives of Zambians in a tight spot.

A loaf of bread which used to sell at K10 in the PF era is now going at anything between K22 and K27 and chances are that soon it will hit the K50 mark.

The critical shortage of electricity has now put a nail in the industrial coffin as people continue to look as if they have funerals.                      Where is our boisterous UPND which promised Zambians heaven on earth before the 2021 elections which it sadly won?

I do not think that our UPND is on the ground to appreciate the suffering of the people who now survive on a single meal a day.

Now even with the promise of good rains in the 2024/25 farming season, the delivery of farming inputs is the usual pathetic story.

I hear many provinces are still waiting for their supplies except for Southern Province which has already received its share.   For me, it would appear that for now all what UPND wants is remaining in power whatever it takes.

This may be partly the reason President Hakainde Hichilema has suspended three Constitutional Court judges for fear they may allow ECL to stand in 2026.

It is also surprising that our President has not commented on billions leaving Zambia for overseas as reported by our Financial Intelligence Centre.

For now only time will tell.

Lusaka.
