Use sport to build yourselves, youths prodded
By ROGERS KALERO
FORMER Kalulushi Mayor Rashida Mulenga has said sports tournaments which she has been sponsoring are not meant for youths to outdo each other and create rivalry amongst themselves, but to interact and use such opportunities to identify and exploit their talents which may take them to greater heights
Mulenga said youths must take sports tournaments being sponsored in their respective areas seriously.
They must use them to exploit their individual talents because sports was a lucrative business which has taken some youths from wallowing poverty to greater heights of success
Mulenga, who has been sponsoring various sports tournaments in Kalulushi in the last two months, said in her small and humble way, she will continue to sponsor sports tournaments among them football, pool and others to help youths exploit their talents and keep them away from illicit activities
“Apart from keeping youths away from illicit activities, these sports tournaments are not battlefronts for youths where they can create rivalry.
They are meant for youths to interact and use such opportunities to exploit their talents which may take them to greater heights, she said.
“I’m saying this because I was told that whenever there is a football tournament in Chati area, fights erupt after one team wins because in most cases, those who have lost don’t concede defeat and end up accusing the referee of being biased,’’ Mulenga said
Mulenga said the football tournament held in Chembe saw Kachelekete emerging as winners in the finals, while the Pool Independence Tournament progressed well in both Chambishi and Kalulushi
“In our quest to support and uplift sport, by God’s grace, we managed to attend our Independence Programmes The football tournament held in Chembe that saw Kachelekete emerging as winners in the finals and our Independence Pool Tournaments for both Chambishi and Kalulushi went well.
