Ex-envoy doubts UPND will fulfill promises

By SILUMESI MALUMO

Zambia’s former First Secretary for Political Administration in Brussels Brian Hapunda has said Zambians will be lucky if the new dawn government  delivers on promises.

He anticipates that it will be a miracle if the UPND delivers even 40 percent of their campaign promises to Zambians in this term at the rate they are moving.

Mr Hapunda said the UPND has not shown the zeal to deliver what they promised Zambians during campaigns.

Meanwhile, former ambassador to Ethiopia Emmanuel Mwamba says in fact after 100 days in office, the government appears to be only settling, with key appointments yet to be made.

“President Hakainde Hichilema has clocked 100 days in office. In politics, the 30, 60, 90 and 100 days are great milestone.

But there has been no major pronouncements and statements commemorating these periods and relating or marrying them to political campaign promises.

We know Rome was not built in a day, but the work must begin in earnest.
