THE political violence and cases of arson in some parts of the country are being championed by power-hungry politicians, Rainbow Party Luapula Province chairman Reverend Bernard Chiwele has charged.

In an interview yesterday, Rev Chiwele said it was sad that some political players had resorted to applying unconstitutional means in their quest to form government.

“Don’t use force to grab power from the PF and President Edgar Lungu because by doing so you are inviting problems into your life,” Rev Chiwele warned.

He urged other opposition political parties to exercise patience and respect the rule of law in all their political endeavors.

“You don’t need to use unconstitutional means to remove the PF party and President Lungu from power. You are simply inviting problems into your life and also putting our country at stake. Just relax and wait for the right time,” he said.

He also said the mushrooming of political parties was a source of concern.

Rev Chiwele however revealed that the Rainbow Party remained committed to promote peace in the country and further appealed to other parties to emulate it.

“As Rainbow Party, we are not hungry for power even when we are aware that we are the right political party to take over government from the PF.”

He said his party understood the weaknesses of the PF which would anable it to win the 2021 election.

“We are forming the new government because we understand very well their (PF) strategies. We know the weaknesses and strengths of the PF because we created it. Apart from that, the Rainbow Party has a manifesto which has the answers to the economic problems facing majority Zambians,” said Rev Chiwele.
