Ministry of Agric urged to review its operations

By NATION REPORTER

THE Small-Scale Farmers Development Association (SAFADA) Executive Director Boyed Moobwe has called on the Ministry of Agriculture to review its operations and management system following reports that the Permanent Secretary used the wrong documents in directing bids to Agrizam.

Mr Moobwe said SAFADA noted that the use of inappropriate documents cannot be easily accepted and raises concerns about the ministry’s operations.

He said a comprehensive review of the ministry’s system is vital to ensure that such mistakes do not happen in future.

He also said the orgnisation appreciates the PS’s willingness to be open and transparent about the issue.

But Mr Moobwe said more information is needed to fully understand the scope of the problem and to recommend the best course of action.

He said SAFADA is committed to supporting the agriculture sector and helping farmers to succeed.
