CIVIL AND PUBLIC SERVANTS TO SHOW PROOF OF VACCINATION BEFORE BEING ADMITTED TO THEIR PLACES OF WORK.

A joint briefing by a council of ministers convened by President Hakainde Hichilema has approved drastic measures to ensure the prevention of a fourth wave of Covid 19.

Minister of health Sylvia Masebo said at joint briefing of ministers held at 8pm on Sunday that a number of measures had been decided upon and will be implemented for public good.

The council of ministers will focus on epidemics and risk management to address threats of a new variant Covid 19 Variant, Omicron.

Highlights of the measures that have been decided upon and expected to take effect on Tuesday 30 November , 2021.

The council of ministers is optimistic that the measures will play a vital role in averting the possibility of a 4th wave of the Covid 19 pandemic which would overwhelm the country’s health system and the economy.

  • Surveillance at all points of entry will be heightened.

-All travers entering the country from Covid 19 high-risk areas will be subjected to 10 days quarantine at own cost.

  • Local authorities and police will continue inspection of public places to ensure adherence to Covid 19 preventative guidelines.

They will also ensure that public places are fumigated

  • Members of the public shall not be allowed to enter public buildings without a mask.

-Public transport operators must ensure masking up and sanitizing of all passengers regularly.

-Members of the public without masks will not be allowed to access markets and bus stations.

-No one will be allowed into government offices without proof of vaccination.

-It will be a requirement for civil servants and public workers to show proof of vaccination for them to admitted to their places of work. This will be done in consultation with trade unions.

-Bars and Night clubs, and will operate only 4 days in a week and from 6pm to 8pm

-Churches will only be allowed to meet three times in a week , for only one hour each time they meet.

  • Funerals and weddings should have quests less than 50 subject to inspection.

-Government will roll out vaccination with a target of 2 million people.

The measures will be reviewed after a month.
