Over 300 attend key AfDB forum

MORE than 300 entrepreneurs attended the opening of the second edition of the Africa Resilience Forum organised by the African Development Bank (AfDB) aimed at promoting entrepreneurship in the region.

The conference held under the theme “Building Resilience at the Bottom of the Pyramid” was held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on February 08 2018.

The main addition of the 2018 edition, which was be held over two days, was the presentation of innovative and relevant solutions that contributed to the Bank’s five strategic priorities, known as the High 5s, at a community level.

According to AfDB update, about 15 businesses and start-ups exhibited their products, which had been tested and were available commercially in the sub-region.

The forum tackled a number of issues such as the role of public policy to support interventions in communities that were fragile.

“Participants also discussed ways to improve assistance for communities, especially for those who are most vulnerable, in order to strengthen resilience,

“They focussed on sharing knowledge, the impact of exclusion and feedback on intervention experiences in communities, in order to be better prepared for future actions,” read the update.

The second edition of the African Resilience Forum helped to provide countries and participants with opportunities to establish effective partnerships and debate innovative and sustainable finance mechanisms to boost the resilience of people at the bottom of the pyramid.
