The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) in North Western Province has slammed the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) for spreading lies that it’s leader is the one implementing developmental programmes in the area.

The party said it was unfortunate that the opposition party was telling lies that its leader was the one spearheading the social cash transfer programme, installation of the presidential solar hammer mills and other developmental projects taking place in the province.

PF provincial secretary Edwin Sekelechi told the Daily Nation in an interview that he was disappointed with the lies the opposition party was spreading.

“As a party in the province, we are very disappointed with our colleagues in the opposition who are busy spreading lies to members of the general public,” he said.

He said the opposition party should stop cheap propaganda blackmailing people because all the programmes were being implemented and funded by government.

“For example, the presidential solar hammer mills, that’s entirely President Lungu’s initiative.

“On social cash transfer, that’s a government programme which has been in place for many years. But this time around, the PF government under the able leadership of President Edgar Chagwa Lungu has scaled it up to all the districts in the country.

“So, people should not be cheated that the said programmes are being implemented by the opposition UPND,” he said.

He said people should believe in the PF government and president Lungu because he meant well for the nation.

He said from the time he ascended to power in 2015, President Lungu had embarked on various projects not only in North Western Province but other parts of the country aimed at improving the living standards of the people.

“Initially, the entire North Western Province depended on thermal power supply for many years since independence, but now, every district is connected to the national electricity grid. Power supply is 24/7.

“This tells you that the head of state and his government mean well for the people of this province,” he said.
