CHIMWEMWE Member of Parliament, Mwila Mutale, has expressed concerned over encroachment on Minsenga Basic School grounds in Kawama where the council has allegedly allowed people to construct structures.

Mr Mutale said the school ground was being used for Physical Education (PE) by the school and so it was not in order for anybody to build there.

And Mr Mutale has expressed displeasure at the delay by the Kitwe City Council (KCC) to purchase various items for the rehabilitation of the ablution blocks at Kamatipa and Twata- sha markets.

Mr Mutale said the K120, 000 from the 2017 Constituen- cy Development Funds (CDF) had already been released for the purchase of the items for the rehabilitation of the ablution blocks, but was disappointed that the local authority was de- laying to purchase the items.

He told Daily Nation in Kit- we yesterday that the attitude

of some of cers at the council was not only disappointing, but irritating to elected leaders like MPs who were being insulted by the people who elected them because of the delay on some projects.

He said it was irritating that small projects which were sup- posed to be completed within a short time, were taking long because of the inertia of the lo- cal authority.

”I’am sorry if some of cers at the council will think I am talking too much , but I think with the way things are mov- ing at the council, we will not progress. About K120, 000 was released from the 2017 CDF to rehabilitate ablution blocks at Kamatipa and Twatasha mar- kets, but nothing has been done.

”As MP I’am running out of patience because people are insulting me. We have a problem at the council because officers do things as they wish. There is no body to talk to them. You and some officers in the procurement department coming drunk for work,” Mr Mutale charged.
