The WAN- IFRA Women in News Editorial leadership award recognises career achievements of women editors who have made an outstanding contribution to their newsrooms. Presenting the award to Ms Mbewe, Fernando de Yarza López-Madrazo, WAN IFRA President said the association also recognised the work of the media organisations of the laureates. And in receiving the award, Ms Mbewe said she was honoured to be recognised by her peers and that also placed a huge responsibility on her to ensure that young journalists who want to learn from her, are well guided She said journalism is not easy but is the best profession one can think of doing.
