Indo Zambia Bank backs ZAFFICO Marathon

By BUUMBA CHIMBULU INDO Zambia Bank has renewed its partnership with ZAFFICO Marathon 2026, supporting this year’s campaign to raise awareness of maternal health and environmental conservation. Speaking at a media briefing and unveiling of the marathon kit, bank manager Godwin Ngoma said the continued participation reflected its commitment to initiatives that promote community wellbeing, healthy living and sustainability. Ngoma said the marathon, held under the theme “Run for Maternal Health. Run for Nature,” provided a platform to mobilise public support for issues affecting communities. He said maternal health remained a critical concern requiring collective action to ensure women had access to quality care throughout pregnancy and childbirth. “Every mother deserves access to quality care and support throughout pregnancy and childbirth,” Ngoma said. He said investing in maternal health would contribute to stronger families and healthier communities, adding that the bank was supporting efforts to raise awareness of the issue. Ngoma said the environmental conservation component of the marathon also aligned with the bank’s environmental, social and governance policy, particularly its focus on protecting natural resources. He said trees supported biodiversity, sustained ecosystems, contributed to livelihoods and helped combat climate change. Ngoma said the partnership with ZAFFICO was therefore relevant because of the forestry company’s role in environmental conservation. He added that the marathon also encouraged people to adopt active lifestyles through running and walking, which could be done by people of different ages and fitness levels. Ngoma urged the public to register for the 2026 event, saying the available race categories catered for participants with different fitness levels and endurance goals. The marathon will feature 7.5-kilometre, 10-kilometre, 21-kilometre and 42.2-kilometre races. He said the bank was pleased to continue working with ZAFFICO and the Ndola Fitness Club in an initiative that combines sport with public awareness of maternal health and environmental sustainability. Ngoma said the bank’s brand promise, “Supporting You, Developing Zambia,” reflected its commitment to contributing to the wellbeing and sustainable development of the communities it serves.
