ZAMBIA BURDENED BY HATRED, DIVISION – REV NSAMA

By NATION REPORTER Z AMBIANS should collectively repent for the country’s political, social and moral failures and seek God’s intervention to heal a nation that is burdened by division, injustice and loss of integrity, Reverend Peter Nsama of the Redemption Shalom Church has said. In a prophetic prayer of repentance and healing for Zambia, Reverend Nsama said the country needed to return to God and confront the sins committed by both leaders and citizens. He said Zambia had allowed truth to give way to convenience, integrity to be sacrificed for influence and righteousness to be exchanged for personal gain. “Lord, forgive us! We have allowed truth to give way to convenience, integrity to be sacrificed for influence, and righteousness to be exchanged for personal gain,” Reverend Nsama said. He called for forgiveness over corruption, misuse of public resources, abuse of authority, secret dealings and the alleged betrayal of public trust, while urging leaders to put the common good above personal and political interests. Rev Nsama also challenged citizens to repent for hatred, tribal divisions, political intolerance, dishonesty, violence and indifference to the suffering of others. He said the Church itself needed to examine its conduct and repent for divisions, silence in the face of wrongdoing and the pursuit of recognition instead of holiness. “Purify our pulpits, restore our altars and give us courage to speak Your truth without fear or favour,” he prayed. Rev Nsama further called for the healing of Zambia’s national divisions and the restoration of public confidence in State institutions, the justice system and public service. He prayed for the protection of the Constitution and democracy and urged the emergence of leaders who would fear God more than losing political power.
