Zambians still love Tonse Alliance – Moola

By NATION REPORTER THE chanting of the ‘Pe Lampi’ slogan during local football matches should send a message to the UPND that despite using soldiers to grab the election victory from Brian Mundubile and his team, Zambians still believed in the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance, Munalula Moola has said. Mr Moola, the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance Copperbelt provincial information and publicity secretary said Pe lampi (the lamp), which was a symbol and slogan used by the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance in the August 13 elections, has become a popular slogan during football matches by fans. In an interview, Mr Moola said the chanting of ‘Pe Lampi’ during a football match between Zambia and Togo at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, after power went off, and during a football match involving Nkana Football Club at Nkana Stadium was a clear message that despite the stolen election victory and the incarceration of President Mundubile and his team, Zambians still believed in the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance. Mr Moola said Mr Mundubile remains a hero and a popular political figure despite being incarcerated on trumped-up charges because Zambians know that his victory was stolen and have now resorted to shouting the ‘Pe lampi slogan during football matches. Mr Moola has since warned those Tonse Pamodzi Alliance leaders who have decided to betray Mr Mundubile and his running-mate Makebi Zulu that they will be used and dumped just like the case has been with some politicians who betrayed the Patriotic Front. Mr Moola, unlike the PF under the late President Edgar Chagwa Lungu which had set the stage for poverty alleviation and food security, the UPND, in its first term, had become unpopular because of the worsening poverty and hunger, the increasing dictatorial tendencies, among other things, but forced its way into a second term using all possible means.
