BUILDCON FC Chief Executive Officer, Hector Mulindwa says “Team Kopala” will not be demoted from the MTN/FAZ Super Division.
Mulindwa said in an interview from Ndola that the struggling Ndola giants are doing everything possible to survive relegation.
Mulindwa said one of the survival strategies has been to engage former Power Dynamos and Zanaco coach Kelvin Kaindu to be the head coach to help the team survive the chop.
“We are very confident Buildcon will survive relegation that is why we have appointed Kelvin Kaindu as the new coach.
“From a number of people we had lined up to take over, we opted for Kaindu because we are very confident he is the right man for the job,” Mulindwa said.
Kaindu will be assisted by Boyd Mulwanda and the duo will be in charge of the team up to the end of the 2019/20 season.
Serbian specialist Ivan Zoric who had been acting as the head coach role will revert to his technical director’s role.
Buildcon FC had 12 of its players and Zoric arrested recently by the Immigration Department for working in Zambia without valid documentation.
The arrest of the 12 players had brought confusion as the club failed to fulfil fixtures before the league was forced to go on a break because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mulindwa however noted that things are back to normal with the team focusing on remaining in the country’s top-flight football league.
“We have resolved everything now and we are ok as a team.
“We have to be tough with reality and the biggest task for everyone at Buildcon is that we try and survive relegation and everyone is pushing, everyone is working to ensure that we do better in the remaining games and move out of the relegation zone,” Mulindwa said.
“Team Kopala” are looking to salvage their season having endured an uninspiring campaign in the top-flight where they occupier 15th position on the 18-team table with 25 points collected from six wins, seven draws and 10-defeats.
