ZESCO United coach Numba Mumamba almost manhandled referee Derrick Kafuli after he allegedly insulted Numba for accusing him of match fixing as NAPSA scored a late equaliser to draw 1-1 with the Ndola giants at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.
Kafuli was accused of match fixing after he ruled out Zesco’s two goals for off side before allowing NAPSA to score a late equaliser in the seventh minute of added time.
Clement Mwape had given Zesco the lead in the 11th minute.
The defender rose high to head in Mubanga Kampamba’s free kick to break the deadlock as National team coach Milutin Micho Sredojevic watched from the terraces.
Zesco doubled their advantage five minutes before the break but were unfortunate as Jese Were’s strike was ruled out for off side as the first half ended 1-0 in favour of the Ndola giants.
Zesco continued to dominate play in the second half and scored through Winston Kalengo whose goal was also disallowed for another offside.
Five minutes into the second half NAPSA’s gaffer Mohammed Fathi made two changes; introducing Laudt Mavugo for John Sikaumbwe while speedy winger Austin Banda replaced Kenyan international Timothy Otieno.
With the match destined for a Zesco United victory, super sub Laudit Mavugo scored in injury time to rescue NAPSA from suffering a home loss as the two teams shared the points.
Meanwhile at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe, Power Dynamos began their Super Division campaign with a 1-0 win over Young Green Eagles.
Left back Luka Chamanga’s second half goal was all the Perry Mutapa drilled “Aba yellow” needed to win in a game played behind closed doors.
