By OLIVER SAMBOKO
NATIONAL Revolution Party (NRP) party leader Cozmo Mumba has petitioned LAZ to revoke Lusaka lawyer John Sangwa’s practicing licence for allegedly misleading Zambians on the eligibility of President Edgar Lungu to contest the 2021 presidential elections.

Mr Mumba also called for the immediate suspension of Mr Sangwa from the Law Association of Zambia.
According to the petition, Dr Mumba wants the licence revoked for unprofessional, unethical and uncalled for behavior being exhibited by Mr Sangwa whom he said the nation expected him to lead by good example considering that he was a state counsel who should give correct information to the public and Government.
He said his party was shocked that Mr Sangwa was allegedly in the forefront in misleading Zambian on an issue already deliberated up-on and decided by the courts of law which he was part of and was guided by learned Judges that the constitution is not read in isolation.
“The National Revolution Party has today, 24th November, 2020, brought its petition to the Law Association of Zambia over the unprofes-sional, unethical and uncalled for behavior being exhibited by John Sangwa whom the nation expects to lead by example with the status of a state counsel,” ready part of the Petition.
Mr Mumba also accused Mr Sangwa of having misled opposition Members of Parliament not to vote for bill 10.
He said Mr Sangwa’s unethical conduct had potential to create disharmony in the country and lead to people to rise against the legitimate elected Government of President Edgar Lungu.
Mr Mumba said Mr Sangwa should stop hiding in the veil of law but that he should instead come out and join politics so that he can be taken as such.
He also called on LAZ to discipline any lawyers allegedly fanning confusion in the country.
