THREE high ranking police officers including deputy Inspector General of Police for Operations, Bonnie Kapeso have been dismissed after President Edgar Lungu received the preliminary report on the killings of two citizens last week.

President Lungu also gave Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja a six months contract in which to reform the police service, saying the IG’s continued stay in office would be determined on how he would perform during the period.

He has appointed Copperbelt Police Commissioner, Charity Katanga as deputy Inspector General of Police for Operations.

Deputy Inspector General of Police for Administration, Eugene Sibote’s contract has also not been renewed and has since been replaced by Northern Province Commissioner Richard Mweene.

This is according to a statement issued by special assistant to the President for press and Public relations, Isaac Chipampe.

President Lungu also transferred Eastern Province Commissioner of Police Lackson Sakala to Lusaka to replace Mr Nelson Phiri whose contract had not been renewed.

Northwestern Province Commissioner of Police Elias Chushi has been transferred to Copperbelt to replace Ms Katanga.

President Lungu transferred Muchinga Province Commissioner of Police Joe Njase to Northern-western Province replacing Mr Chushi and State House deputy Commissioner of Police Geza Lungu appointed as Commissioner of Police and moved to Eastern Province.

The Head of State has promoted Airport Division deputy Commissioner of Police Lizzy Peter Machima as Muchinga Province Commissioner of Police.

Lilayi Training College deputy Commissioner of Police Jestus Nsokolo has been appointed as Northern Province Commissioner of Police.

President Lungu has promoted the senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Zambia headquarters Charles Mbita as Lilayi Training College deputy Commissioner of Police and also senior deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police, Tazara division Lazarous Mbuzi as Central Police deputy Commissioner of Police.

Meanwhile the Head of State asked the Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja to expedite the investigations of the killing of two people in Lusaka last week.

The Head of State said, “The investigations into that matter have not been concluded, I, therefore, call upon on the witnesses apart from those who have been interviewed to help the police with investigations.”
