By MULENGA MUSONDA
A 22-YEAR-OLD man has appeared in the Choma Magistrate’s Court on accusations that he stole over K920 from his uncle.
The accused, Nchimunya Changwe is charged with theft contrary to section 272, Chapter 87 of the Penal Code of the Laws of Zambia.
Allegations are that Changwe, an employee of Itel stole K922 cash the property of Mr Frank Muntanga, his uncle on November 30 in Choma.
When he appeared for plea before Resident Magistrate Ethel Phiri, Changwe denied the allegations compelling the court to enter a plea of guilty.
Immediately after the court recorded a plea of not guilty, his uncle applied that the matter be withdrawn as he had forgiven him.
But the magistrate rejected the application as the accused denied stealing the money and as such there was no point of withdrawing the matter on the basis that the complainant had forgiven him.
The case was adjourned to December 22 for trial and Changwe was remanded in custody.
In the same court, a 45-year-old farmer appeared for explanation of the charge of murder.
Allegations are that Briven Hanzuki of Choma, murdered Hanzia Hantamba on dates unknown but in the month of November.
Hanzuki will appear for mention or possible committal to the High Court on December 24.
