THERE is need for an immediate investigation into the leaking of confidential documents from the National Pension Scheme Au-thority (NAPSA), a consortium of political parties and civil society organisations has demanded.

The consortium suspects that it could be very senior people from within NAPSA with hidden interests who were leaking confidential in-formation.
This follows the circulation of confidential NAPSA documents on social media.
Consortium spokesperson, Spuki Mulemwa said the continued misinformation over the business transactions of NAPSA were fishy and orchestrated to sabotage the institution.Mr Mulemwa questioned why the claimed acquisition of Chrismar Hotel by NAPSA has received high level leakage when the authority has invested in hotels and similar ventures without raising dust.
He wondered what was sinister about NAPSA acquiring Chrismar Hotel for it to be an issue. Mr Mulemwa said it did not matter whether the business transaction was true or not because it was not a matter to debate about, saying NAPSA had every right to buy any property which was on sale.
He said it was highly questionable why rumours of NAPSA buying Chrismar had received so much attention when the authority had made similar investments before without that raising any dust.
“It’s questionable why the claimed business transaction between NAPSA and Chrismar received high level leakage when Napsa has in-vested in hotels and similar ventures,” said Mr Mulemwa.
Earlier, NAPSA dismissed media reports suggesting that it had purchased Chrismar Hotel in Lusaka.
NAPSA head of corporate affairs, Cephas Sinyangwe, said the authority had no intention of purchasing Chrismar Hotel.
He said NAPSA had communicated its position to Harberton Limited, the owners of the property.
