SOME known opposition political party leaders who are not only self-centred but consumed with rage and driven by revenge should never get into State House, renowned Catholic priest Father Lastone Lupupa has said.

Fr Lupupa said even God would not allow a presidential candidate who is full of bitterness, vengeance, unforgiveness and enmity to win elections.

In a video that has gone viral, Fr Lupupa said it would be better to rig elections than allow a sadist to rule Zambia.

“Michael Sata was delayed to become President, God took him a longer period of time “mpaka umwine Lesa amutobosola, amunasha, elo asamupelakofye three years ukuteka. Ngaatutekele for 10 years katwishi ngaalisalufyanya.”

“So kuli imwe bambi tamwakengilemo mu State House because you are still too much of yourself, until you break down. Until you become so soft, until you begin to see that there is only one of us. Until you have the vocabulary of love, until you begin to condemn violence every time you open your mouth,” Fr Lupupa said.

He added, “As long as God sees that this one is dangerous, chawama twachita rig ama elections, ukuchila bambi bakateke. Mulalanda namwebene ati ifwe ngatwaisa mu power tukamikaka. Who would want you to rule when we know that when you begin to rule, we are going to scamper in all directions?”

The priest said Zambians were able to scrutinise some of these political parties whose leadership is well known for bitterness, arrogance and vengeance.

“Instead ulelanda ati tukamibelela uluse. Ulefwaya ukupa, elo nganakupa first week iwe nkakupuma. Akasumiina uyo umwanakashi? She will say kopeniko bambi,” he said.  (You want to marry and start by threatening the woman, that you will beat her in the first week. Will she marry you. She will tell you to go and marry someone else,” Fr Lupupa said.
