BARCLAYS Bank Zambia will strive to play a vital role in promoting economic recovery by supporting the revival and development of entrepreneurship, agriculture, manufacturing, mining and other sectors of the economy, managing director Mizinga Melu has said.
Ms Melu said the bank would continue to play a vital role in setting the stage for economic recovery by coming up with products and services that would help the players in the country’s economy to grow their businesses.
She was speaking on Thursday evening at Nkana Golf Club in Kitwe when the bank organized a cocktail for its clients on the Copperbelt. “As Barclays Bank Zambia Plc, we will strive to consistently provide the support and investment that allows businesses to grow. We want to play a vital role in promoting economic recovery by supporting the revival and development of agriculture, mining and manufacturing sectors. “We also want to assure the contractors and suppliers in the mining industry that we will continue to be their preferred bank by giving them quality services and goods. We also have good services and products aimed at promoting entrepreneurship in the country,” Ms Melu said.
Ms Melu assured Government of the bank’s support in achieving economic recovery because it was its valued partner in the development agenda of the country.
She said the bank will always strive to supplement Government efforts in pursuing growth opportunities in the key economic sectors like mining, agriculture, energy, telecoms and public sectors.
“When I was asked to take over this operation, I did not hesitate because it not only gives me an opportunity to be back home, but also provides me with a welcome challenge to drive the bank to even higher heights and pursue growth opportunities in the key economic sectors like mining, agriculture, energy, telecoms and public sectors.
“I wish to re-assure the Government that they can count on Barclays as a valued partner in the development agenda of the country,” she said.
She also said some of the great products from Barclays Bank Zambia which have been introduced for the convenience of customers included tax online payments, and the largest footprints of deposit- taking ATMs.
‘‘Other products include withdrawing cash from the till at Pick ‘n’ Pay and Shoprite while enjoying your shopping and bill payments and funds transfer using mobile and online banking anywhere, anytime,’’ Ms Melu said. “Under my leadership, I will reiterate that our priority is still focused on delivering exceptional customer experience while continuously improving our processes so that you, our valued customers, enjoy superior banking solutions for your diverse needs,” she said.
