AFROBLEND ENVOY
By MICHAEL MIYOBA
AFTER bringing Louis Saha for the first ever Chivas Afroblend campaign launched in 2020, Manchester United sponsor Chivas have lined up another Man-U legend to grace this year’s Chivas’ Afroblend campaign in Zambia.
Chivas’ brand manager for South and Central Africa, Lifa Pakana has named Dwight Yorke as the Manchester United legend to grace this year’s Afroblend event.
Pakana however noted that due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the Manchester United legend would not physically come to Zambia but would interact with Chivas’ consumers and Manchester United fans via a virtual conference.
“Due to the pandemic and Covid-19 restrictions, the legend won’t be able to travel this year but we will be able to provide a platform where Manchester United fans in Zambia can be able to interact with him via a virtual conference.
“Despite us being restricted from doing what we do, we are still able to host a great event which brings great people from different fields to come and blend and experience the great event held under the theme Safe Environment,” Pakana said
“Our partnership with MUFC is not only the meeting of legends, but the ignition of a successful partnership executing a global proposition the African way. This year, through the campaign Success is a Blend, the brand demonstrates that through each person’s unique contribution, we can achieve even greater success.”
The Chivas’ Afroblend campaign which is celebrated in three African countries – Cameroon, Zambia and Kenya – will see renowned international fashion artists and local musicians such as Wezi and Macky 2 named among the local brand ambassadors.
“For the first time this year we have brought in influencers who come from different works of life and are not boxed to one career because they are involved in various careers,” Pakana said.
Pakana reaffirmed Chiva’s commitment to unite different influencers to incorporate innovative digital connections and exclusive ‘Success is Blend’ experiences for consumers.
Pakana said the brand had engaged local fashion designer, Chiza Ngulube of House of Esnoko who was inspired by the Chivas’ brand to come up with unique new designs.
