‘DISRESPECTFUL’ KALALA OFF MARK – KALUMBA

By NOEL IYOMBWA

FORMER State House aide, Jack Kalala, is off the mark to be calling President Edgar Lungu names, former Finance Minister Katele Kalumba has said.

Mr Kalala has been quoted in one of the daily tabloids alleging that President Edgar Lungu was the worst President the country has ever had.

But Dr Kalumba said that being a former diplomat and State House aide, Mr Kalala was supposed to use his experience to unite politicians rather than attacking the President.

He said that not long ago, Mr Kalala was objective and sober but that it was surprising that he was now showing signs of bitterness towards the Head of State.

Dr Kalumba noted that if Third President Levy Mwanawasa was still alive, he was not going to be happy with Mr Kalala’s disrespectful sentiments against President Lungu.

He advised that if Mr Kalala was politically affiliated, he should offer sound advice for the betterment of the particular political party rather than attacking the Head of State.

“I am surprised that long ago he was being objective but now I am surprised that he has gone into an attacking mood, calling the President names. My advice to him as a brother is to let him sober up and be rational as he used to be some time back,” he said.

Dr Kalumba said that President Edgar Lungu has worked very hard in uniting the country regardless of who voted and did not vote for him.

Mr Kalala had alleged that Mr Lungu’s directive not to hold public meetings was a ploy to restrict opposition parties’ campaigns.

Mr Kalala, who referred to Mr Lungu as the outgoing president, stated that the directive to law enforcement agencies was an abuse of power and aimed at serving his political interests.
