ALLEGATIONS that UPND president Hakainde Hichilema sent his brother to prison over missing cows must not be easily brushed off but must be given the necessary and fair attention, Mufulira Ex-miners for President Lungu have demanded.
Patron of the Mufulira Ex-miners for President Edgar Lungu, Gift Mushinge, said Zambians should debate fairly and seriously the allegations against Mr Hichilema and be able to make a conclusion of what kind of a person he would be if Zambians gave him the chance of becoming Republican President.
Mr Mushinge, who is also Mufulira Mayor, was reacting to media reports that Mr Hichilema’s brother, Wilfred, was ill-treated over missing cows which led to his incarceration and having his house grabbed.
Wilfred explained that he was sent to prison for five years by his brother over two cows which went missing from Mr Hichilema’s farm.
Mr Mushinge said the allegations against Mr Hichilema were very serious and should not be brushed off but instead Zambians should give it a serious thought whether the UPND leader was for to be republican President with such a record
Mr Mushinge said leadership called for humility, kindness, and forgiveness but that the allegations against Mr Hichilema by his brother were a clear indication the UPND leader was ruthless and vindictive.
“A leader should have a calm and forgiving heart, but if a leader is vindictive, then that leader will become unpopular. Now, if Mr Hichilema is able to send his brother to prison over the two missing cows, what about ordinary people, what is he going to do to them?
“Careful, don’t be emotional and think that people like Mr Hichilema will get you out if the poverty and hunger in which you are now. You will make a mistake which you will regret for the rest of your lives. So before you can make a mistake, critically analyse the allegations against Mr Hichilema by his brother,” Mr Mushinge said.
Mr Mushinge also advised Zambians to embrace the culture of hard work and engage Government for good policies to support entrepreneurship.
He said Government had already started empowering youths and women in various communities in order to mitigate the effects of unemployment and poverty among the growing population.
“The progamme of youth and women empowerment is a good programme which needs the recipients to be serious. Poverty and hunger cannot be single-handedly thought by government. So when programmes like empowerment come, let us embrace them and put our best to ensure that we benefit,” Mr Mushinge said.
