LUNDAZI BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION ON COURSE

By SIMON MUNTEMBA

WORK on the Lundazi Bridge are going on well and it will be completed soon, Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure Development Permanent Secretary Danny Mfune has said.

Mr Mfune said contrary to reports that the work had stalled, construction had been going on smoothly.

He said in an interview yesterday that the contractor, Shachitari Construction Company, was on-site.

Mr Mfune explained that some technical work such as drawings and tests were done behind the scenes without necessarily having a lot of people on the site.

“Contrary to reports that works had stalled, works are going on. As I speak to you right now, the contractor is on-site working. When technical tests are done sometimes you don’t expect a lot of people on site because such kind of work is done behind the scenes,” Mr Mfune said.

Mr Mfune appealed to residents in Lundazi and the general public to be patient, as Government would ensure high quality works.

He said Government would put up a strong bridge that would stand the test of time.
