CHIEFTAINESS SEKUTE CAUTIONS HH OVER CABINET
CHIEFTAINESS Sekute of the Tokaleya speaking people of Kazungula has advised President Hakainde Hichilema to scrutinise those he intends to appoint to cabinet to avoid putting wrong individuals in public office.
The traditional leader said it will be sad to have a team of cabinet ministers who will not prioritise the interest of the nation but theirs.
She was conveying her congratulatory message to President Hichilema and his running mate, Vice President Mutale Nalumango yesterday.
Chieftainess Sekute said she has no doubt that the new president and his government will foster economic development of the country.
She said that as a traditional leader, she and her subjects will support Mr Hichilema to ensure his government delivers development not just in her chiefdom but the entire country.
“We as traditional leaders are there to work with the government of the day. We need to work together and bring everybody together.
“We don’t want bloodshed in this country but we want peace to continue just like the way our first Republican President Dr Kenneth Kaunda managed to bring all the 72 tribes together. Zambians are known to be peaceful people,” she said.
Chieftainess Sekute urged all Zambians to support the new government for development to take root.
“Right now it is about congratulating him and his running mate for their victory and wish them God’s blessings. Time will come when we will ask him on how to develop the chiefdom because my chiefdom in still lacking in development,” Chieftainess Sekute said.
