DESPITE having featured for Glasgow Rangers after his complete recovery from a groin injury, striker Fashion Sakala will miss the 2022 Qatar FifaWorld Cup qualifiers after missing out on Beston “Quick Silver” Chambeshi’sfinal 22-member squad camped in Morocco.
Sakala is not the only absentee as experienced goal keeper Kennedy Mweene, has also been snubbed while injuries have ruled out winger Augustine Mulenga and Evans Kangwa.
Chambeshi has named seven foreign-based players in his squad to be led by the EPL duo of Patson Daka who on Sunday joined the team in Morocco where they will connect to Mauritania for their first Group B World Cup qualifier slated for Friday in Nouakchott.To Page 19

For Mwepu, who features for English club Brighton and Hove Albion, the World Cup qualifiers are crucial as they present him a chance to help Zambia make a historical appearance at the World Cup.
Mwepu is confident that the team selected by Chambeshi will be able to do better on Friday.
Meanwhile, Daka, who plays for Leicester City is aware of the high expectations from Zambians who have endured a lot of agony due to the team failures in past fixtures.
Mwepu and Daka joined RS Berkane new signing Clatous Chota Chama who was the first foreign-based star to join camp on Saturday.
The other expatriate stars summoned by Chambeshi include T.P Mazembedefender Tandi Mwape, South Africa-based goalkeeper Mwenya Chibwe, LubamboSailas Musonda who pliss his trade in Denmark and Sweden-based attacker Edward “Tiger” Chilufya.
Chambeshi has also named 14 local stars in his finals squad set for the back–to-back World Cup qualifiers against Mauritania and Tunisia.
“Quick Silver” who also doubles as Nkana FC coach has dropped the Nkana duo of goal keeper Kelvin Malunga and midfielder Harrison Chisala.
Napsa Stars promising young star Jimmy Mukeya, Felix Bulaya, Ngosa Sunzu, Isaac Shamujompa and Miguel Chaiwa from Shamuel FC have also missed out on the final team.
After playing Mauritania on Friday, the Chipolopolo will host Tunisia four days later at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
