SUSPECTED UPND CADRES BEAT, ROB PF OFFICIAL

SUSPECTED UPND cadres on Wednesday evening attacked Patriotic Front (PF) Roma Ward chairman Felix Mushitu at his home. And Lusaka Province Police Commissioner, Lackson Sakala said that he had not yet received the report but that police would get to the root of the matter.

In an in interview, Mr Mushitu said that the cadres pounced on him at his house around 19:00 hours in Ng’ombe Township after knocking off from work. He said to his shock, a group of people stormed his yard and started beating him and his relatives.

The PF official explained that he wanted to flee, but that the group managed to apprehend him and continued beating him and demanded money. Mr Mushitu said he was later driven to a river that demarcates Ng’ombe and Chudleigh where they continued beating him and wanted to kill him.

“I was almost killed because they hit me with rocks after capturing me from my place and took me to a stream where they almost killed me with fists and kicks,” he said. He said the assailants were Lackson Tembo, Owen Mulikita and Richboy Lubasi who later demanded K10, 000 and said they would kill him if he did not produce the money.

Mr Mushitu said that he only had K2, 700 which they grabbed and later demanded for more and also got the K300 which was in his mobile money account. Mr Mushitu said that they later took him back to his house and got the money and demanded for some more. He said his wife later brought another K2, 000 and that was how they left him but that he rushed to Ng’ombe Police station after sustaining swollen face.
