A PF PARLIAMENTARIAN HAS DEMANDED THAT GOVERNMNET MUST FAST TRACK ITS ELECTION CAMPAIGN PROMISES AS IT SETS UP FAST TRACK COURTS FOR CORRUPTION CRIMES SO THAT DEPENDENTS OF THOSE WHO WILL BE JAILED ARE NOT LEFT FINACIALLY HANDICUPPED.
Lupososhi Member of Parliament EMMANUEL MUSONDA said that as President Hakainde Hichilema plans to introduce fast track mechanisms for fighting corruption among them,courts for corruption and economic crimes, he should equally fast track mechanisms for the introduction of free education, reduction of the price of fertilizer, employment of nurses, teachers and doctors as well as the auctioning of the Gulf Stream Jet Contributing to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address to Parliament on the floor of the National Assembly, Musonda said those that will possibly be jailed for corruption will require the New Dawn Government to provide financial relief for their dependents who they will leave behind such as free education and employment.
“On page 46 and 47, his Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema said and I will quote. ‘We have a zero tolerance police on corruption in all its forms and that the UPND ‘s The New dawn Administration abhors corruption’. Madam Speaker, I equally abhor leadership that fails to fulfil election promises,” said the law maker.
He said good governance demanded honour and integrity arising from fulfilling promises.
“His Excellency said that they will introduce specialised fast track stolen assets recovery mechanisms and courts for corruption and economic crimes. In 2001 madam speaker, I was here. We made friends with (Levy) Mwanawasa and he came to this house and said he has established a prima facie case against late president Dr (Frederick) Chiluba and that we should remove Dr Chuiluba’S immunity. We did. Fasts track institutions of the ACC were established,” he said.
“We were promised that they (ACC) would recover stolen money and that money would go into the country’s economy. Did we see that? What was recovered, which was covered on our TV was Nickers, Bambas (underwear), shirts and shoes. That is what they showed us.”
He said as an opposition parliamentarian, he would only support the new administration’s fight on corruption, if it equally gave priority to needy aspects of the economy as it had to suspected corruption cases committed by the previous regime.
“Just like I did support in 2001, the new deal government over their fight against corruption because I abhor the act, I will support you. As you are fast tracking (formation) courts kindly also bring to this house legislation that will provide for the fast track implementation of free education. We will support .
