My life is shattered PF member
BY NOEL IYOMBWA
MY life is shattered as I can longer work to provide for my family because of my broken leg, PF member, Bernard Daka has lamented.
The PF member was recently brutally attacked by armed suspected UPND cadres in Mandevu Township in Lusaka.
Mr Daka tearfully narrated that on June 10, this year he was in the company of his colleagues heading to meet now Mandevu Member of Parliament Christopher Shakafuswa when they met group of cadres clad in UPND regalia.
He said the cadres who were on a roadshow in the constituency recognized him as the PF branch chairperson for Justine Kabwe ward.
“They immediately dragged me and my colleagues out of the vehicle and started hacking and beating us, some started using pangas and other weapons I couldn’t see on us,” Mr Daka narrated.
Mr Daka, who has not yet fully recovered, said that he became unconscious and was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).
He said that he was now struggling to feed his three children and wife as his leg was permanently broken.
Mr Daka said he had only been receiving help from Mr Shakafuswa who has been visiting him at his home.
With deep scars around his body, he regretted that the attack had left him traumatized.
He has since appealed for assistance from well-wishers to support his family, saying that he has been unable to pay rent since the incident.
Mr Daka also advised youths to avoid being used as tools for political violence.
