SENIOR Chief Musele of the Lunda people of Kalumbila district in North-western Province is appealing to the government to increase resources in the education sector. Senior chief Musele is calling on the government to consider putting in more resources towards recruitment of staff in the education sector, improve education infrastructure, and provide proper learning materials, among other things being lacked in the region.

He further stated that with an improved teaching curriculum, an educated workforce will help eliminate corruption, not only in Western Province, but across the country. “To eliminate corruption, we need to educate our people.

When you have schools nearby, people will learn and problems will be reduced,” he said. The traditional leader was speaking when Minister of Education Douglas Siakalima called on him at his palace.

Senior Chief Musele also appealed for construction of a boarding school in his chiefdom, saying pupils need to move long distances just to locate the nearest one. “We are appealing for a boarding in the Musele chiefdom. Our school, which is near the palace, ends at grade nine.” he added. ZANIS
