CHIEF HAMUSONDE CAUTIONED OVER DIVISIVE STATEMENTS

By KALOBWE BWALYA
SENIOR Chief Hamusonde should stop making careless statements that have the potential to cause divisions in the country, New Congress Party president, Peter Chanda has said.
This follows Senior Chief Hamusonde’s comments that the former President, Mr Edgar Lungu was a selfish man.
Pastor Chanda said it was surprising that Senior Chief Hamusonde was today attacking Mr Lungu when he was in the forefront praising him when he was in office.
He said the traditional leader should be the last person to talk about the former ruling party because PF government took development across the country.
Pastor Chanda said it was sad that Senior Chief Hamusonde could today turn against the former Head of State to win favour in the eyes of the new regime.
He said if Senior Chief Hamusonde was transparent why did he not counsel the UPND over its misdeeds when it was in the opposition?
Pastor Chanda said the chief was mute over the killings that rocked the country in the run up to the August 12 general elections and many other terrible things that happened.
He said it was not fair because as a traditional leader, Senior Chief Hamusonde should have been criticising wrongs before regime change.
The pastor said it was questionable that the traditional leader was only seeing the wrong in Mr Lungu today when he was not in power.
Pastor Chanda said development was taken across the country and Southern Province benefitted, therefore such claims by the chief should be condemned.
He urged the traditional leader not to fuel confusion in the country with his careless sentiments.
“If President Lungu was heartless and did not care for the people of Zambia, he would have not handed over power peacefully,” said Pastor Chanda.
