Defiant Munir dares UPND Alliance

By SIMON MUNTEMBA

LET the UPND Alliance council of presidents take me to court than wasting their time threatening me with law suits because I am ready to tell the judges names of alliance members extorting money from former Permanent Secretaries in exchange for “protection,” Munir Zulu has said.

Mr Zulu, who is Lumezi independent Member of Parliament on Tuesday this week said he was doubtful if the fight against corruption by the new dawn Government would yield positive results because some known UPND Alliances partners were extorting money from former permsecs in exchange for protecting them from prosecution.

However, this did not go well with the UPND Alliance council of presidents who threatened to sue Mr Zulu if he failed to substantiate his allegations within 48 hours.

UPND Alliance spokesperson Lesley Chikuse warned Mr Zulu to substantiate his allegations or risk being cited for defamation of a class of citizens.

But in a defiant response to the 48-hour ultimatum asking him to substantiate his allegations or risk being taken to court for defamation, Mr Zulu said he was ready to go to court and tell the Judges names of UPND Alliance partners abetting former permanent secretaries in shielding criminal elements.

Asked if he would substantiate his allegations within the 48-hour ultimatum given to him by Mr Chikuse, Mr Zulu said, “Let them take me to court”.

Mr Zulu on Tuesday alleged that a known UPND Alliance member was abetting former permanent secretaries in shielding criminal elements and he has called on the UPND administration to come out and expose their partner.

“They are busy calling people, extorting money under the banner of saying g we are going to offer you protection should you be summoned,” Mr Zulu said.
