THE KITWE City Council (KCC) has received a total of K8 million 2021 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for all the five constituencies in the district,” Town Clerk Mbulo Seke has said.

Mr Seke said each constituency will get K1.6million and respective CDF Committees were expected to invite project proposals from the Ward Development Committees (WDCs) in their respective constituencies.

“Kitwe City Council wishes to inform our esteemed citizens that it has received the 2021 CDF for all the five constituencies in Kitwe amounting to K8million at K1.6 Million per constituency.

“Therefore, in accordance with section 16 of the Constituency Development Fund Act No.11 of 2018 (the Act), the respective CDF Committees are expected to invite project proposals from the Ward Development Committees (WDCs) in their respective constituencies.

“And in line with section 37 of the Local Government Act No. 2 of 2019 the WDCs should submit project lists and budgets for consideration by the CDF Committees,” Mr Seke said.

Mr Seke said all the CDF committees established before the 12th August, 2021 General election were hereby dissolved by effect of section 5 of the Act in order to allow the Members of Parliament to nominate two (02) representatives of the Community.

In the same vein, members of the public are accordingly notified that the CDF committees established before the 12th August, 2021general election are hereby dissolved by effect of section 5 of the Act in order to allow the Members of Parliament to nominate two (02) representatives of the Community.

“The MPs will nominate one representative of a civil society organisation operating in the constituency, one representative of a religious organisation in the constituency and one (01) councillor from among the councillors in the constituency and allow the new councillors in the constituency to elect two from among themselves, who shall consequently be appointed as part time members of the CDF committee by the Minister,” he said.

He said the list of nominees together with their Curriculum Vitae ( CVs) should be submitted to the Town Clerk for onward submission to the Honourable Minister of Local Government and Rural Development for appointment.
