THE Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) has entered into a partnership with the United Party for National Development administration.
MMD president Nevers Mumba said they have decided to enter into a partnership with the ruling party based on a set of common values that the two parties share.
Dr. Mumba said the partnership was aimed at supporting progressive development agenda and some policy positions that the UPND administration has lined up which their party would have explored if they were given a mandate to govern this country.
He said he had sat with President Hakaihinde Hichilema and discussed the partnership based on their shared values and they were in agreement.
“We are in total agreement,” he said.
Dr. Mumba said President Hichilema must be supported in his quest to renew Zambia’s democracy.
He said the partnership was not an entry to the UPND alliance because it was a separate process as it was a partnership to support what they believed was a progressive programme for the Zambian people.
He said the government had so far demonstrated determination to pursue the rule of law, fight corruption, grow the economy and repeal the Public Order Act which was in line with their co-values.
“We have common values,” he said.
Dr. Mumba said their partnership was because the UPND government had shown determination to pursue some policies which agree with their parties’ policies.
He said the rule of law, the fight against corruption, repealing the Public Order Act and uniting the nation, were some of the policies their partnership was formed upon.
