MOPANI TO PROCESS 4M TONNES OF COPPER
MOPANI Copper Mines is poised to increase copper processing to over four million tonnes annually once construction of the Synclinorium Concentrator is completed.
Acting MCM Chief Executive Officer John Chiwele has disclosed that the mining firm had invested over US$220 million to set up a new concentrator which would promote efficiency.
Mr. Chiwele said the concentrator would increase the lifespan of the mine to more than 30 years once commissioned this December.
He said the mining firm was investing in long term projects for it to cut on costs and contribute to revenue collection by the government thereby contributing to local development.
Mr Chiwele said this when MCM board chairperson Hastings Mtine toured the facility.
