PATRIOTIC Front Kanchibiya Member of Parliament Sunday Chanda says as a backbencher, he is ready to put to test President Hakainde Hichilema’s 90-day turnaround strategy starting November 24t, 2021 when he will have clocked 90 days in office.
Speaking when he featured on Hot FM’s “beyond the headlines” programmeed sector by sector, policy by policy, word for word and marrying his promises to what he would have put in place both at a level of policy and appointments.
And when asked about the olive branch that was offered to Patriotic Front members by President Hichilema to join the ruling party, Mr Chanda said that there are many ways of working with the ruling party such as scrutinising bills presented in Parliament without necessarily closing shop or crossing the floor and triggering a by-election.
Furthermore, Mr Chanda disagreed with the ruling party’s political decision to paint all members of the former ruling party as “corrupt because the former ruling party was not a congregation of angels and neither is the current ruling party.
He also added that if indeed there are individuals who were involved in corrupt activities in the previous regime, they did so individually hence they ought to be prosecuted individually.
Mr Chanda also emphasised the former ruling party’s desire to fight corruption and stated that the party will support the New Dawn Government’s fight against corruption.
