The Evangelical Youth Alliance (EYA) has petitioned the British government to probe and remove from the London Stock Exchange, a company registered in the British Virgin Islands and purporting to be running mines in Zambia. The petition has also been copied to the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to the petition delivered to the British Embassy in Lusaka by EYA Executive Director, Moses Lungu, the named company which has majority shares in three mining companies, has allegedly been using the three companies to raise money at the London stock exchange.
The petition also said it’s a shame that a company listed on the London Stock Exchange can be involved in bribery using the companies registered in Zambia where they own the majority shareholding which they are using as special purpose vehicles for bribery and corruption.
The Evangelical Youth Alliance, through the petition also stated that through this crooked business undertaking which is done in complicit with some corrupt elements at the Ministry of Mines in Zambia, the named company is making millions of Pounds for themselves but this money does not come to Zambia because they are not interested in mining.
It also said, a perusal at the Patents and Company Registration Agency (PACRA) shows that the three companies have the same shareholders who have been exchanging licenses at every interval for almost seven years.
