CRIMINALS USING MY NAME TO SWINDLE PEOPLE – KAKOMA

By KETRA KALUNGA

THERE are some criminals using my name to swindle people, says former United Party for National Development (UPND), Charles Kakoma.

Mr. Kakoma said in an interview that there are criminals using his name to solicit for funds using Facebook by purporting that he has been awarded US$200, 000 and that others could also apply and win a prize under the Facebook lottery programme.

He said the criminals are trying to swindle people using his name by suggesting that they apply using a link with an obligation fee that is provided on the fake Facebook page indicating that he “Mr. Kakoma” has won the Facebook slate of price of US$200, 000.

Mr. Kakoma, who is a   Patriotic Front (PF) member, confirmed in a Facebook post on social media and cautioned the public to ignore such manoeuvres from fraudsters to avoid being swindled.

And the post from the swindlers partly reads, “This is to certify that Charles Kakoma of Zambia has won the Facebook slate of price of 200, 000 USD and therefore being cleared by the certificate to be the beneficiary.”
