STOLEN LOOT FOUND IN A DISH

BY MAKOKWA CLARA MUYENDEKWA

A sister in law has testified in the Choma magistrate court how she was wakened by some  suspicious noise from her brother in law’s house.

This is in a case where Trust Kangwama of Choma was appearing for trial on charges of house breaking and theft.

Matuku Ng’andu aged 35 of Kachacha compound in Choma told the court that she and the other two  neighbors found   alleged thieves almost leaving the house with a dish of blankets.

She further narrated how a chase led to the apprehension of one of the accused persons as the others managed to escape.

Particulars of the offence are that Trust Kangwama of Choma is alleged to have broken into the dwelling house of Muloongo Nkwame on  September 26,  2021 and  stole among other items a home theater, a mattress and assorted blankets all valued at K5, 900.

Another state witness, Muloongo Nkwame aged 31 of Kachacha compound , who is also the complainant in the case, told the court that he was in Mukwela of Kalomo District when he received a phone call from his wife informing him of the break in.

“ I then called my sister in law to confirm if the break in had taken place which she confirmed,” Nkwame said.

“I  discovered that my home theater comprising of a woofer and five speakers, an 8 inch mattress were missing while the assorted blankets were on the bed were  packed in the green dish right at the door,” he said.

The accused person is appearing before magistrate MuyambangoMunukayumbwa.

The state prosecutor Coilard Sikwalulwa  applied for an adjournment  of the matter due to the absence of other state witnesses.

Magistrate Munukayumbwa granted the adjournment and set November 15 for continued trial.
