STOP IN-FIGHTING, PF MEMBERS ADVISED
By Jackson Mapapayi
A PATRIOTIC Front member in North western province Herold Zholomi has observed that infighting among PF members is likely to jeopardize the rebranding and rebuilding process of the former ruling party.
Mr Zholomi said in an interview that it is sad that party members have continued tearing each other apart instead of being united. He said the rebranding of the former ruling party can only happen when members at all levels get united.
“As long as the infighting continues, then we should forget about the rebranding and rebuilding of the party because there is power in unity,” said Mr Zholomi. He stated that the best time for the party to rebrand and mobilise is now and that people should not wait for 2026. He said the provincial leadership across the country should start mobilising lower structures in order to prepare their minds for the exercise.
And Mr Zholomi has advised the party leadership not to impose leaders on the people. He said people should be free to select leaders of their choice and not imposing on them. He stated that imposing leaders on people will result into continues leadership wrangles. “Even at national level, the party should not be appointed but be subjected to a ballot, because the moment one is appointed, that will be the end of PF,” he said.
He said the democratic process should be allowed to take its course and allow people to challenge and be challenged. “That way, the party will rebrand and come out very strong and the party will survive,” he said. He has also called on the party to be apologetic to the people of Zambia in order to gain sympathy from the people. He said he was happy that party president Edgar Lungu apologised to the Zambian people for letting them down.
Kalomo council warns illegal traders By ANDREW MUKOMA Kalomo Town Council (KTC) has warned of stern action against individuals trading in liquor without licences in the district. The local authority says doing such or engaging in that is illegal. Council Chairperson Coy Makaya says he has received disturbing reports of mushrooming shebeens and taverns in various compounds that are trading in alcohol illegally. Mr Makaya told the Daily Nation that the local authority will move in to bring to book all the perpetrators who will be found going against the provisions of the law. He said that the situation has led to high numbers of youths engaging themselves in beer drinking. He has also expressed concern over the noise pollution emanating from the taverns and shebeens that operate beyond stipulated time. Mr Makaya has called on members of the public to report individuals dealing in such businesses or play loud music to the council so that they face the full wrath of the law.
